Bali - Island of the Gods The exhibition "Bali - Island of the Gods" conveys the magical aura of a unique culture whose driving forces, even in modern age, are religion and rite. Its fundamental concepts which, also for us, are understandable and worth considering, are meant to be explained and documented in a vivid way. At the same time the exhibition wants to show historical roots and processes which have left their mark on Bali`s society and culture over many centuries. Precious objects illuminate the conception of the world, the cult of ancestors and the arts. A historical look back relates of old Balinese kingdoms, of witch-cults and of magic practices. And as "Heaven's Doors" a temple gate and a cremation tower- the tropical island's powerful religious symbols - rise upwards.
